What is this unit all about?



Vocal Textures

Focus:

Within this unit of study we will develop our awareness of the voice as an instrument.  We will concentrate on textures in vocal music through listening and performing.

You learn to

Develop a sense of rhythm and pitching notes

Develop an understanding of textures in vocal music

Extend your knowledge of choirs (SATB) parts and the voice

Sing in an ensemble fitting part in with others

Maintain your part with others

Practice songs at different tempos

Develop vocal technique

Plan and rehearse performances

You will learn about

Choirs and SATB parts

Solo and Ensemble Singing

Texture

A Capella Choirs

Score reading

Your work will show

Confident performances in practical work

The ability to work well in large groups

Knowledge of the voice and SATB choirs

Awareness of different styles and genres

Your finished work will include

A listening log 

Researched homework

A written record of class tasks

Performances which demonstrate good vocal technique - rhythm and pitch

Recordings of class performances/solo performances
